Meet the Team


Anna Jenkins - Family Support Lead and Deputy Safeguarding Lead

  • I provide 1:1 support for parents who require help with finances, behaviour, mental health and domestic abuse.
  • I have a degree in Early Childhood Studies, and a Post Graduate qualification in Early Years Professional Status.
  • I am trained to give contraceptive advice.
  • I am the centre’s CAPO co-ordinator for families affected by parental offending in Bristol. I regularly work at HMP Bristol and HMP Eastwood Park supporting children, families and offenders.

Kerri Matthews - Family Support Lead and Safeguarding Lead

  • I have a degree in Sociology and a Masters in Developmental and Therapeutic Play.
  • I am the contact point on behalf of the Family Support Team for any queries about referrals and our group services.
  • I spend some of my time at city-wide meetings looking at the ways in which we can develop our service.
  • I build links with other agencies and professionals.
  • As part of my role I am involved in some 1:1 support to families.
  • I also support women affected by domestic abuse and mental health issues, I have a Diploma in Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence.

Sue George - Family Support Worker

  • I provide 1:1 support and signposting for families.
  • I am Nurturing Parenting Programme trained.
  • I facilitate Rockabye and Antenatal Rockabye for Mum’s suffering from Postnatal Depression and Low Mood.
  • I have lived and worked in Brentry and Henbury for 36 years working with children and supporting families.
  • I have three adult sons and two grandchildren aged 6 and 2.

Milli Barry - Family Support Worker

  • I am CAPO (children affected by parental offending) Lead and support CAPO Champions across Bristol within their role.
  • I have an NVQ Level 3 in Early Education and have lots of previous experience within Early Years and in Leading Roles such as Deputy Manager and SENCO.
  • I provide 1:1 support and signposting for families.

Jen Waines - Family Support Worker

  • I provide 1:1 family support as well as facilitating community groups: Rockabye – a therapeutic groups for Mums and Babies. Antenatal Rockabye – a therapeutic group for pregnant women.
  • I have a degree in Psychology and a Postgraduate Master’s Degree in Social Work, plus person-centred counselling qualifications.
  • I am a mother of two daughters who are now at school.

Emma Laird

  • I support the Health Visitors at the Brentry Baby Clinic and run the Breastfeeding Support Group every Wednesday morning at our Brentry site.
  • I work in our Baby Room, Buttercup, and have many years of experience working with babies and young children.
  • I am Nurture Programme trained and I am able to support parents with parenting advice.

Nic Woods - Crèche Worker

  • I’ve been at the Children’s Centre since it opened, working in the nursery.
  • My role involves running crèches for parents/carers who are attending groups or courses at the centre. I also help run family support groups.
  • We aim to create a welcoming, friendly and safe environment for the young children in our care. We are always happy to talk to parents and take on board any concerns they may have about leaving their child. Being a mum myself of two grown up children, I do enjoy a cuddle with the babies!
